How to Use Sand Wax (Easy Method)
Here’s the simplest and most widely recommended way to use sand wax:
1. Choose Your Container
Pick a heat‑resistant glass, ceramic, or gypsum holder.
Make sure it’s clean and dry.
2. Insert the Wick
Place a pre‑tabbed candle wick in the center.
If needed, press a little sand wax around the base to help it stand upright.
3. Pour in the Sand Wax
Pour the granules into your container around the wick.
You can:
- fill halfway or to the top,
- layer different colours for designs,
- mix decor like shells or stones
4. Trim the Wick
Leave ¼ inch (6 mm) of wick above the wax surface for an even burn.
5. Light & Enjoy
Light the wick just like a standard candle.
The wax melts only around the wick, forming a small melt pool.
Reuse & Refill
When the wick burns out:
- scoop out leftover granules,
- add a new wick,
- top up with more sand wax.
It’s reusable and mess‑free.
Tips for Best Results
- Use stable, heat‑safe containers.
- Avoid moving the candle while lit.
- Keep away from drafts for an even burn.
Using Sand Wax with Your Gypsum Creations
Sand wax is ideal for filling gypsum candle vessels because:
- no melting required,
- no risk of heat damage to gypsum moulds,
- quick refill option for customers,
- clean, smooth finish.
Just pre‑wick your gypsum vessel → pour → light.
