Eco Seal Duo Set – Matte & UV Glossy Sealants – 200g Each

Test both finishes before committing to a larger size.

The Eco Seal Duo Set is perfect for makers who want to compare the matte and glossy UV finishes on Gypsogem Eco Resin, gypsum, cement and cement-based creations.

This set includes:

  • Eco Seal Matte – 200g
A matte waterproof sealant ideal for sealing porous gypsum surfaces, creating a natural matte finish and preparing surfaces for foiling, gold leafing or decorative detail work.
  • Eco UV Seal Glossy – 200g
A glossy waterproof, UV-protective sealant ideal for adding shine, depth, vibrancy and a polished finish to your creations.

Both formulas help create a smooth protective barrier over porous surfaces while preserving the details and character of your handmade pieces.

The duo set is ideal for testing on trays, pots, coasters, ornaments, décor pieces and gypsum candle vessels before pouring wax.

Both Eco Seal Matte and Eco UV Seal have been tested by us and are commonly used by many of our clients for sealing gypsum candle vessels. For best results, always ensure your vessel is fully cured, correctly sealed and tested with your chosen wax, wick and fragrance combination before selling or gifting your finished candles.

Use this set to compare which finish works best for your product range: a natural matte finish with Eco Seal Matte, or a glossier, UV-protective finish with Eco UV Seal.

Please Note

  • This listing is for 1 x 200g Eco Seal Matte and 1 x 200g Eco UV Seal Glossy only. Any products shown in the photos are for demonstration purposes and are not included.
  • If you are using a gypsum product that already includes a hardener or built-in sealing system, an additional sealant is generally not required for basic sealing.
  • This duo set is ideal if you want to test different finishes, compare surface effects or choose the best sealant for your final product range.
  • Eco Seal Matte can be used when you want a matte sealed finish, smoother surface protection, foiling, gold leafing or other decorative detail work.
  • Eco UV Seal can be used when you want a glossy sealed finish, added UV protection, enhanced depth or a polished look.
  • Eco Seal Matte and Eco UV Seal are not wax, fragrance, wick or candle-making additives. They are used to seal the gypsum vessel before candle pouring.
  • These sealants do not make the finished candle vessel fireproof, heatproof, burn-proof or mark-proof.
  • As with any candle vessel, incorrect wick sizing, flame position, wax type, fragrance load or poor burn performance may cause heat marks, brown flame marks or damage to the vessel.
  • For candle vessel use, always test your finished candle as a complete system, including the gypsum mix, pigments, sealant application, wax type, fragrance load, wick size and burn performance before selling or gifting.

How to Use Eco Seal Matte & Eco UV Seal

Make sure your Gypsogem Eco Resin, gypsum or cement-based piece is fully cured, completely dry and free from dust before sealing.

Sponge Method

  1. Lightly dampen a clean sponge with water and squeeze out the excess.
  2. Dip the damp sponge into your chosen sealant and squeeze out any excess product.
  3. Quickly and gently apply a thin, even layer over the surface.
  4. Avoid allowing the sealant to pool or dry halfway through application. Less is more for a smooth finish.
  5. Allow the first coat to dry fully before applying additional layers.
  6. Repeat if additional coverage or protection is required.

For pieces with a base, apply the sealant in sections. Do not rest a sealed wet surface on an unsealed or unfinished area until it is fully dry.

Eco Seal Matte dries to a matte finish.

Eco UV Seal dries to a glossy finish, with the gloss effect increasing as additional layers are applied.

Please note: Applying the sealant with a dry brush or dry sponge may cause streaks, similar to traditional varnishes. The damp sponge method helps create a smoother and more consistent finish.

Dipping Method

For larger pieces, detailed shapes or when you want very even coverage, both sealants can also be used as a dip-coat.

  1. Mix 50% sealant with 50% distilled water in a clean bucket.
  2. Dip your item into the mixture.
  3. Remove the item and wipe off the excess with a clean microfiber cloth.
  4. Allow the piece to dry fully before dipping again.
  5. Repeat the process if additional coverage or protection is required.

The dipping method provides even, streak-free coverage and is ideal for larger surfaces or pieces where brush marks may show.

Why use distilled water?

Distilled water contains fewer impurities, helping to keep your diluted mixture clean and reusable. Avoid contaminating the mixture with pigments, colourants, foil flakes or dust from your items.

Storage Tips

  • Store in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight.
  • Always close the caps tightly after use.
  • Do not freeze.
  • Keep out of reach of children.
