How to Use Eco Seal
Make sure your Gypsogem Eco Resin, gypsum or cement-based piece is fully cured, completely dry and free from dust before sealing.
Sponge Method
- Lightly dampen a clean sponge with water and squeeze out the excess.
- Dip the damp sponge into Eco Seal and squeeze out any excess product.
- Quickly and gently apply a thin, even layer over the surface.
- Avoid allowing the sealant to pool or dry halfway through application. Less is more for a smooth finish.
- Allow the first coat to dry fully before applying additional layers.
- Repeat if additional coverage or protection is required.
For pieces with a base, apply Eco Seal in sections. Do not rest a sealed wet surface on an unsealed or unfinished area until it is fully dry.
Eco Seal dries to a matte finish.
Please note: Applying Eco Seal with a dry brush or dry sponge may cause streaks, similar to traditional varnishes. The damp sponge method helps create a smoother and more consistent finish.
Dipping Method
For larger pieces, detailed shapes or when you want very even coverage, Eco Seal can also be used as a dip-coat.
- Mix 50% Eco Seal with 50% distilled water in a clean bucket.
- Dip your item into the mixture.
- Remove the item and wipe off the excess with a clean microfiber cloth.
- Allow the piece to dry fully before dipping again.
- Repeat the process if additional coverage or protection is required.
The dipping method provides even, streak-free coverage and is ideal for larger surfaces or pieces where brush marks may show.
Why use distilled water?
Distilled water contains no impurities, helping to keep your diluted mixture clean and reusable. Avoid contaminating the mixture with pigments, colourants, foil flakes or dust from your items.
Storage Tips
- Store in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight.
- Always close the cap tightly after use.
- Do not freeze.
