Heat Pressing Instructions
Pre-heating your ceramic tile or coaster before sublimation is an important step and helps promote a more even, consistent transfer.
For best results, we recommend using a Nomex pad. Nomex is heat-resistant and helps create better, more even contact across the ceramic surface, particularly around bevelled edges or slightly uneven areas.
If you do not have a Nomex pad, we have also found that using approximately 4 layers of white heat-resistant felt works well as an alternative. The additional cushioning helps improve contact across the surface during pressing.
Recommended Pressing Settings
Face Up: 190°C for approximately 240 seconds
Face Down: 190°C for approximately 360 seconds
Important Tips
- Allow the ceramic to heat thoroughly during pressing for the best colour transfer.
- Ensure your sublimation print is securely positioned before pressing to prevent movement or ghosting.
- Use protective paper where required to protect your heat press.
- Ceramic products retain heat for a long time after pressing. Handle with extreme care and use heat-resistant gloves.
- Allow the item to cool naturally on a heat-resistant surface after pressing.
- Pressing times may vary slightly depending on your heat press, pressure, ceramic thickness and artwork.
